Carnival Australia are excited to announce: We are hiring a Financial Accountant to join our Carnival AustraliaFinance team. Based in our Chatswood office in Sydney, reporting to the Voyage & Operational Accounting Manager, this role will complete the accounting for all brand voyages whilst conducting regular reviews of the balance sheet, rectifying any outstanding balances and research any unreconciled or outstanding items are completed in time for the month end close.

Your key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and maintain efficient and effective voyage accounting ensuring strong internal control structure, accurate financial/operating systems, and compliance.
  • Reviews and evaluates process flows and activities to identify control weaknesses or opportunities for increased efficiencies.
  • Critically review CAU Balance Sheet reviews prior to the monthly review call.
  • Works directly with operations and ship based staff on an ongoing basis to facilitate timely and accurate data collection, and to ensure a shared understanding of operational/financial correlation.
  • Ensure all management/status reports are sent out to stakeholders on a timely basis.
  • Responsible for ensuring Onboard Debts at EOC are at a minimum. Achieved through partnering with the Ship and Shoreside collections.
  • Compiles and co-ordinates month end voyage accounting & cash applications timetable to ensure a fair and equal distribution of work that enables cross training of tasks amongst Revenue Accountants.

About You:

You're a passionate and driven Financial Accountant with strong reporting, reconciliation and end of month reporting skills. Your analytical mind with a focus on continuous improvement, combined with your superior communication skills aids you strongly within the Finance Department providing insights and performance improvement suggestions. As part of a high performing team, your strong internal relationship building skills, with the ability to work with peers across multiple disciplines within a matrix structure will set you apart from your competitors.

To be successful in the role, you will need:

  • Mandatory tertiary qualifications in accounting.
  • CA/CPA or CIMA qualified desirable or working towards
  • Experience with month end accountancy is mandatory.
  • Clear communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability to think strategically and consider the impact of decision making on operations and business.
  • Advanced Excel modelling, working knowledge of Oracle 12 including the creation of new executive reports.
  • Ability to see the big picture with a strong continuous improvement lens always challenging and improving the status quo.
