With cruise industry booming, we have a newly created role for a Key Account Manager to join our P&O Australia Sales team. This role will see you responsible for strengthening P&O Cruises' market presence with our key distribution partners across Australia. As a principle point of contact for key accounts you will own the relationships and ensure P&O Cruises Australia is prominently and regularly promoted along with key account development and growth through planning, training, and marketing support, to achieve our financial objectives and to ensure that clients performance exceeds minimum contractual expectations.

Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Manages assigned allocated accounts and ensures long-term relationships are consistently maintained and developed
  • Grows revenue in accordance with targets by increasing market penetration through new and existing allocated account relationships
  • Identifies and develops incremental sales opportunities and facilitates accordingly
  • Leads/participates in trade shows, seminars etc. as needed.
  • Works with allocated account personnel and P&O Cruises Marketing team to develop a detailed marketing plan.
  • Works with allocated accounts, to ensure access and best use of promotional materials and collateral.
  • Provides feedback reports to inform management of competitive conditions, enhance promotional effectiveness and facilitate development of marketing strategies.
  • Completes own reporting and data analysis to provide to allocated accounts

About you:

As this is a newly created role, you will have extensive experience as a Key Account Manager with a passion for the travel or cruise industry. You are resilient, driven and demonstrate a high level of customer focus with commercial acumen and a focus on achieving results, with strong influencing, negotiation, presentation skills and ability to close the deal. You will have strong internal relationship building skills, with the ability to work with peers across multiple disciplines within a matrix structure. You will predominantly be working from home with your client interactions conducted virtually or over the phone with minimal in person meetings. This is a very autonomous role, you'll get great support from Sydney head office, but you'll need to be self-driven, motivated, and responsible. You'll need to be a confident public speaker, if you don't love presenting, this is not the role for you. You'll need to take pride in your follow through and have a voracious appetite for customer service and offering solutions using data.  Sound knowledge of the market, strong trade partnerships and the ability to be agile and pivot with an entrepreneurial spirit will set you apart from your competitors. 

We would love to hear from people with:

  • A minimum 5 years Key Account Manager experience within the tourism and travel industry (preferred)
  • Cruise industry experience highly regarded
  • Ability to build and nurture strong relationships with effective negotiating and influencing skills
  • Strong knowledge of local businesses and market trends
  • Proven ability to develop and deliver sales presentations with proficient skills with MS suite
  • Comprehensive experience with data extraction, report writing and developing strategies
  • The ability and willingness to attend trade events on evenings or weekends as required
  • Some interstate travels every quarter or as required
  • Proven experience with CRM software.
