We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Sales Manager to join our Princess Cruise Lines team based in Auckland! Reporting to the Head of Sales Operations, this position will be responsible for building a strong geographic presence, to achieve sales targets through industry relationships and business partnerships. Educate the trade and consumer in the benefits of cruising and drive incremental revenue through existing and new channels.

Your key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Be the face of the Princess brand in New Zealand maintaining a high profile and a professional standing.
  • Build strong and sustainable relationships with existing agency supporters and develop new relationships with agents who have potential to grow to Partnership status. 
  • Build relationships with other travel principles to facilitate joint promotional and sales opportunities.
  • Seek new channels of business both direct and indirect through use of market knowledge and relationships.
  • Use Cruise Sales to promote the benefits of selling the Princess Brand, giving agents the confidence to self-engage.
  • Deliver product education and training sessions to agents within the territory.  Raising the profile of cruise and increasing the propensity of agents to offer cruise as a preferred holiday option. 
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of all products within your portfolio.  Ensure that you proactively gain access to the full range of cruising products.
  • Work with our Events Team, coordinate familiarisations and walk arounds for agents to maximise agency exposure to products.

About You:

You're an outgoing, confident, result driven, and resilient individual that loves working within a dynamic environment.  You will have experience working in or with the New Zealand travel industry, either on board, in field sales or as one of the many outstanding New Zealand cruise travel agents. You are resilient, driven and demonstrate a high level of customer focus with commercial acumen and a focus on achieving results, with strong influencing, negotiation, presentation skills and ability to close the deal. You will have strong internal relationship building skills, with the ability to work with peers across multiple disciplines within a matrix structure. This is a very autonomous role, you'll get great support from an Australian head office, but you'll need to be self-driven, motivated, and responsible.   You'll need to be a confident public speaker, if you don't love presenting, this is not the role for you.   You'll need to take pride in your follow through and have a voracious appetite for customer service and data.  Sound knowledge of the market, strong trade partnerships and the ability to be agile and pivot with an entrepreneurial spirit will set you apart from your competitors.  

To be successful in the role, you will have:

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in cruise sales, as an agent, territory Sales Manager role within the travel or cruise industry.  Cruising experience, either as a guest or crew member, is preferred.
  • Strong business management and planning skills – financial acumen (forecasting and budgeting), marketing savvy, attention to detail.
  • Ability to build and nurture strong relationships with effective negotiating and influencing skills
  • Strong knowledge of local businesses and market trends
  • Proven ability to develop and deliver sales presentations with proficient skills with MS suite
  • A current and full NZ drivers licence
  • The ability and willingness to travel frequently both local, domestic and to Australia and attend functions on evenings or weekends as required
