Carnival Australia is part of the world's largest leisure travel company and home to iconic brands including P&O Cruises, Princess Cruises, Cunard, Carnival Cruise Line, Holland America Line and Seabourn.

Working closely with our shoreside finance and shipboard teams, this position is responsible for ensuring the integrity and timely reporting of cruise voyage accounting and customer payments by:

  • uploading voyage results into Oracle at the end of each cruise, investigating variances between movement of cash
  • assisting with the upload of customer payment files into various systems and reconciling with voyages
  • conducting regular reviews of balance sheet, rectifying any outstanding balances and researching unreconciled or outstanding items
  • review outstanding customer's balances on customer accounts from both the onboard hotel account and pre cruise payments and initiate collections/refund procedures as appropriate
  • coaching and guiding accountants to ensure both voyage accounting and cash applications are completed in time for month end close
  • providing training and support to ship-based system users as well as shoreside accountants

Along with the above business as usual activities there will be an opportunity to work on various business improvement projects – including new system and process rollouts – which may require occasional shipboard travel.

We seek applications from qualified accountants with at least 2 years' experience within a chartered firm or large commercial organisation and CA/CPA or CIMA qualifications (or who are on the path to attainment) who demonstrate:

  • very strong communication skills – both verbal and written, with a high attention to detail
  • excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills; the ability to work well with non-finance stakeholders
  • great planning, self-organisation and time management
  • an inquisitive mind, problem solving ability and enthusiasm for identifying and implementing process improvements
