The primary objective of this role is to manage capital expenditure and operating costs of P&O Australia. The position will act as a strategic partner and advisor to the local executive team as well as the Director – Finance.


The Finance Manager – Capital and Operating Costs, will lead a team of Finance Analyst's on all matters of the brand as they relate to capital and operating cost management, forecasting and planning needs, as well as providing strategic decision making support. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Work closely with Executives and Functional Heads to ensure strong relationships are built, transparency is provided, and insights and performance improvement suggestions are forthcoming
  • Leading the annual capital planning process
  • Providing inputs into the operational and strategic planning process
  • Work closely with the larger Finance Department and Business Partners to deliver month end reporting that is timely and accurate
  • Ensure capital expenditure is managed effectively via depreciation and capital plans and ensuring spend is in line with the approved capital plan
  • Identifying potential risks and opportunities as well as efficiency opportunities within existing process/system flows and proposing solutions
  • Providing leadership, mentoring and support to the team, leveraging and developing employee's capabilities to support the organisation's success



We seek applications from professionals with 5-7 years' related experience in finance within a commercial business environment (global or large corporate environment is preferred) who demonstrate:

  • CA, CPA or CIMA qualifications
  • Superior communication skills, with the proven ability to partner with senior business stakeholders
  • Advanced Excel modelling
  • Proficiency in TM1 or other BI/OLAP tools, ideally with exposure to Data Warehouses
  • Oracle experience would be advantageous
  • Strong aptitude for systems and processes
  • Collaborative leadership style Ability to see the ‘big picture' and think laterally whilst having a keen eye for detail
  • Experience in developing business cases
  • The ability to challenge the status quo in a positive manner
  • High levels of adaptability and resilience, with the ability to work under pressure and meet business deadlines
  • A positive attitude to change initiatives
