Reporting to the Director, Destination Management, the Product Development Manager - Carnival Australia is responsible for developing and managing tour product for Holland America Group brands and Carnival Cruise Line, with a view to maximise profitability and passenger satisfaction. The role will be responsible for procurement and sales of tours and will have extensive responsibilities managing and building new relationships, and analysing financial and guest data to achieve business targets, both financial and guest satisfaction. The position on offer will attract a base salary of $100,000-$120,000 base + Super + Bonus.


Specific responsibilities include:

  • Focus on developing new tourism product in smaller islands and assist potential new and existing vendors in scaling up to meet the increasing demand for shore excursions in these ports. Sensitivity to local laws and customs is required
  • Develop and manage the product, sales and inventory for the tour program across five brands in a defined region
  • Develop and manage key external supplier and tourism authority relationships to maintain the best possible designed tour product range on the market
  • Facilitate the contracting process through coordinating vendors, the Carnival Australia team, Holland America Group and ABG departments to drive effective product procurement.
  • Provide quarterly market analysis for discussion at HAG brands meetings
  • Coordinate and document annual product reviews with all appointed vendors for each destination/region for all brands


We seek applications from meticulous, process driven and incredibly well organised individuals with:

  • 5-10 years' experience in a product development capacity within the cruise industry
  • Direct Shore Excursions experience will be advantageous
  • Strong interpersonal, relationship building and stakeholder management skills – demonstrated experience in dealing directly with international tourism operators
  • A high customer focus, combined with an understanding of commercial drivers – excellent Business Acumen is a must!
  • Strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to work under pressure and multitask to meet deadlines
  • Analytical capabilities with a high level of attention to detail
  • Excellent judgement, troubleshooting and problem solving ability
  • A flexible, adaptable and team centric approach
  • A proficiency in MS Office (intermediate Word, Excel and Powerpoint) and experience using Booking Engines and Inventory Management systems
  • The technical ability and agility to learn and navigate new systems, learn and use web-based tools, troubleshoot and test
  • Flexible availability – there will be an amount of travel required in this role


A Bachelor's Degree in Business or Tourism, or a related field would be highly regarded
