It's an exciting time to join P&O Cruises! With our newest ship, Pacific Explorer, recently joining the fleet (or should we say family), we are sailing to more destinations across more itineraries than ever before.

Reporting directly to the Senior Sales Manager and with a ‘dotted line' report to the National Account Manager NZ, the Business Development Manager is responsible for building a strong geographic presence, in order to achieve sales targets through industry relationships and business partnerships. The successful applicant will educate the trade and consumer in the benefits of cruising, and drive incremental revenue through existing and new channels.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Build strong and sustainable relationships with existing agency supporters and develop new relationships with agents who have potential to grow to Partnership status. 
  • Build relationships with other travel principles in order to facilitate joint promotional and sales opportunities.
  • Create business plans for Diamond, Emerald Partnership Agents plus other selected agents to utilise Marketing Incentive payments and drive continued support to the P&O Brand.
  • Ensure revenue target achievement through focused sales activities aimed at continuous business development opportunities.  Meet key revenue KPI's.
  • Drive agents to utilise and progress through our online training academies to increase cruise knowledge of the P&O Brand and programs.
  • Deliver product education and training sessions to agents within the territory.  Raising the profile of cruise and increasing the propensity of agents to offer cruise as a preferred holiday option. 
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of competitors' products and activity, using this knowledge to overcome objections and promote and sell the Princess Brand.
  • Provide market intelligence feedback in CRM tool to head office to enable decisions to be made to counter competitive threats.


We seek applications from confident and experienced sales professionals, with a passion for travel and cruising who demonstrate:

  • Success in exceeding sales results, preferrably in an ‘on the road' territory management role
  • The ability to strategise, and plan a territory in order to achieve challenging goals
  • Strong relationship building and influencing skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with an engaging and impactful presentation style
  • Self-motivation and discipline with the ability to work in a highly autonomous manner and prioritise workload to have maximum impact
  • The ability and willingness to travel frequently across the territory and attend functions on evenings or weekends as required
  • Experience in using a CRM system for record management is highly preferred
